The University of Law is a modern professional training school with over 100 years’ experience in law. We have been developing legal minds since 1876 and offer real-life legal training and more contact time with qualified lawyers than any other law school. In an increasingly globalised legal world, English law is the first choice for international business – more and more of the world’s most important legal issues are dealt with under its governance. Qualifying in English law can therefore be a major advantage for any lawyer with global aspirations. With eight centres around the UK, The University of Law can provide the key to your international legal career.
Most of the leading UK-based international law firms, which have lawyers practising around the world, have close ties to The University of Law. We have equally strong links with leading international legal associations, such as the International Bar Association, and educational establishments around the world. In addition to this our strong global reputation is why every year we welcome hundreds of international students from every part of the world.
Our Alumni Network reaches around the world operating in a variety of sectors so, whatever your international career aspirations are, we have the connections, breadth and expertise to support you in achieving them.
We will train you to be a lawyer, not a legal academic. We know what it takes to succeed on the constantly changing global legal stage. Everything we do is geared to teaching the law in a professional, practical context, so that you can learn how the law is applied in the real world and develop the right professional skills to think and act like a modern global lawyer. Furthermore, all our courses are designed and taught by experienced qualified lawyers who really understand global legal services in the modern world. We’re totally focused on law – and on building successful legal careers.
We are the UK’s longest-established specialist provider of legal education and have trained thousands of international students. Our origins go back over 100 years, and we have an unmatched reputation for excellence, innovative learning methods, industry connections and commitment to legal services. The University’s rich heritage includes a close association with the Law Society of England and Wales since the 1960s and becoming the first institution to develop law firm-specific postgraduate courses. In 2006, the University made UK history by becoming the first independent institution to be granted degree-awarding powers. In 2012 we were awarded University status and launched the first truly professional two-year LL.B undergraduate law degree, with our three-year LL.B following in 2013.
