Introduction

The Executive LL.M. Programme Regulation and Compliance is a cutting-edge programme designed for professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in regulatory frameworks and corporate compliance strategies.

Compliance professionals – whether working in law firms, in-house at companies, or within non-profit organizations – are charged with monitoring regulatory developments, identifying risks, creating and implementing compliance strategies, and advising on internal policies. Their responsibilities often include drafting codes of conduct, developing training programs to ensure employees safeguard clients’ personal data, or establishing reporting mechanisms for whistleblowers. Although the compliance needs of companies may vary by industry and size, compliance lawyers apply common principles and skills across different situations.

In response to this need, Católica Global School of Law has crafted a unique LL.M. programme designed to help you master these skills while specializing in advising clients in specific industries. The programme prepares students to deal with new and complex compliance demands. Students will explore elements like corporate sustainability, pay transparency, and data protection, as well as different regulated sectors, including finance, trade, and online platforms.

Offered in partnership with Miles in the Sky, this programme employs an innovative learning methodology to provide a truly distinctive training experience.

In this programme, students will learn by completing challenges with clear goals and comprehensive support materials. Each course is structured around a set of missions with specific deliverables. Throughout each mission, students will obtain knowledge that enables them to solve real-world problems. Community interaction is another key component of the programme, fostered through two on-site weeks, one in Lisbon and one in Porto, and regular live sessions with faculty and fellow students.

An innovative learning methodology

Our programme is based on the learning methodology developed by Miles in the Sky, which is designed to maximize engagement and effectiveness through:

Missions

Practical tasks that simulate real-world challenges, with clear instructions and support materials that facilitate problem-solving. Students develop specific skills by tackling challenges that last 1-2 weeks, with deliverables associated with clear learning objectives. Missions will be completed at the participants’ pace and on their own schedule.

Live Sessions

Interactive sessions with faculty and peers to discuss concepts, share insights, and collaborate on solutions. These sessions occur twice a week for 1-2 hours and may include master classes, peer discussions, and presentations, among other activities.
